S.W.F. are a band of five from the North West. Orginally formed in 1996

Started in around 96 S.W.F was the brainchild of Ste Ives on drums and Nathan Gibson on bass with the idea of playing some rather Dark drum and bass.Joined by a former band member Damian Clayton on guitar and new band member Ben Pearson on keys the seeds of creativty were sewn.Alas having written some deep and dark tunes Nathan left the band and subsequently moved to Holland where he still resides and creates his own brand of mayhem,a succession of bassists later Damian took over and S.W.F took on a female singer Sarah and tried a different direction leaving a vacancy for a guitarist,which is where i come in.I joined in 2000 followed shortly by Leon also on guitar and two different female vocalists Nicola and Dominique and it stayed like that for twelve months or so.Another parting of the waves saw Damian.Nicola and Dominique leave and I took over the bassist mantle leaving Leon as the only guitarist and recruited another female vocalist Denise.We were joined in the middle of 2005 by a saxophonist Ben and the line up lasted until Winter 2005 when we lost Denise,since then we have been being helped out on the vocal front by a long time friend of the band Cheryl and so it goes.We keep on keeping on and refuse to take no for an answer.Such is the nature of S.W.F

Grief Society (Listen) "Universal Misunderstanding", the band's second album contains 12 stunning tracks about life, love and the pursuit of happiness (or not!).The album is a veritable roller coaster of rock, blues funk and soul and showcases the style and energy shown by the Grief boys on their four successful UK tours.The album includes live favourite "THAT GIRL", one of three collaborations between American lyricist Thomas De Mann and "Grief" bassist/vocalist Angus Nurse.The pair also worked together on three tracks on the band's debut album "How We Used To Live", released in 1997.
