Jim Long's Classic Jazz is a quartet of experienced musicians specialising in the sophisticated swing of the 30's and 40's in the style of the Benny Goodman and Sidney Bechet small groups.

The music is unamplified and the melodic repertoire is played in a way to appeal to everybody and not just the avid jazz fan. The volume of the group is specifically designed not to intrude on conversations. Listen, get up and dance or just relax and talk to your neighbour. RAW74

A nine-piece band that is just sheer FUNK to watch! "...acid jazz wah-wah meets seventies soundtracks..." - Jazz Cafe, 1999. "...this nine piece line-up creates a very big band sound based on '70's funk but with the genuine '90's influences..." Luton gazette, May 1999. Formed in January 1998, Raw74's motivations was to create a sound audiences could listen to, as easily as they could dance to Throw in a horn, keyboard, guitar and rhythm section - and Raw74's unique sound was put in motion. As the sound grew, so the band grew, and Raw74 are now a nine piece line-up with a full horn section and the recent addition of fenale vocals. Sometimes misconceived, Raw74's sound is now undeniably a unique melting pot of big band jazz and "seventies trouble funk". Raw74 describe themselves as primarily a live band with the single-minded purpose of getting the crowd moving! And that is exactly what they are enjoying success in doing! With almost two years of mainly Luton and London gigging creating quite a fan-based following, as well as two EP releases, Raw74 are now confident to start looking further afield to serious venues, festivals, and....recognition!
